DENMARK

Boaz K. Barkan is a choreographer, performer and somatic practitioner based in Denmark. He focuses on movement and the body as mediums for performers, audience, and communities. His projects intersect participatory, virtuosic, educational and installation approaches.

Barkan has worked and performed with diverse communities in Denmark, Japan, South Africa and USA. A recent project explores the intersection of film and performance and shows how a local community can play the main role in the Hollywood film ET. Hes work ‘May I speak About Dance’ has been presented at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with great reviews. And he won the Bessie Awards in NYC as part of an ensemble performing ‘Parades and Changes Replay’.

Barkan has a background in dance/performance and holds a BA in Dance and Psychology. Barkan has received funding from the Danish Arts Foundation, Copenhagen City Performing Arts Commite, New York Arts Council, and the Lila Wallace Theater Fund.

Boaz K. Barkan er koreograf, performer og somatisk praktiker bosat i Danmark. Han fokuserer på bevægelse, og kroppen som medier for kunstnere, publikum og samfund. Hans projekter kombinerer deltagende, virtuose, formidlings- og installationsmetoder.

Barkan har optrådt og arbejdet med forskellige gruppe i Danmark, Japan, Sydafrika og USA. Et nyligt projekt undersøgte skæringspunktet mellem film og performance, hvor borgere spillede hovedrollerne i Hollywood film ET. Hans værk ‘May I Speak About Dance?’ blev præsenteret på Edinburgh Fringe Festival med gode anmeldelser. Og med værket ‘Parades and Changes Replay’ vandt han en Bessie Awards i NYC.

Barkan har en baggrund i dans, performance og en BA i dans og psykologi. Barkan har modtaget støtte fra Statens Kunstfond, Københavns Scenekunstudvalg, New York Arts Council og Lila Wallace Theatre Fund.
